The setting
Before the portrait,
the address.
The Hotel Chelsea has never behaved like a backdrop. It is an accomplice: red brick, wrought iron, and a long memory of artists, writers, musicians, and beautiful trouble.
For New York Minute, the story moved upstairs to the Chelsea Grand Suite—the hotel’s most spacious one-bedroom, with a separate living and dining area. Window light, balcony lines, and deep interior shadows wrote the first draft of every frame.
A real New York minute: I was in town for a fashion show the night before, then met Anastasiia for an early-morning shoot in the Chelsea Grand Suite.
By afternoon I was at BondST Hudson Yards, hired by the lighting company to photograph the interior fixtures it had installed. Then it was straight to the airport and out of New York that same afternoon.
